Casey this afternoon to the people of St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein, Ohio: Dear parishioners of St. John the Baptist, I was deeply saddened to hear of the fire this afternoon at our beloved St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein. While the fire appears to have caused great damage, I am confident that the faith of this community remains strong.

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati will joyfully celebrate the ordination of two new priests on Saturday May 17, 2025. The men will be ordained to the priesthood for service to God and the Church. Archbishop Robert G. Casey will celebrate the Mass. Within the course of the ordination rite, the archbishop will lay his hands on the men, invoking the authority given by Christ to the apostles to make new priests. The Mass will be live streamed on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati YouTube channel.

Casey, Archbishop of Cincinnati, made the following comments upon the election of Pope Leo XIV. “Habemus papam!  We have a pope.  Through prayerful discernment and with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, the Cardinals of our Church have chosen our new shepherd.  This is a unifying moment in the life of the Church, reminding us of the Good Shepherd’s eternal care for His flock . . .

The people of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are invited to join Archbishop Robert G. Casey in remembering and praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. Four Memorial Masses for Pope Francis will be celebrated by Archbishop Casey throughout the archdiocese during thirty days of mourning.
