Reverend Oscar H. Seger died on August 31, 2026, in New Bremen, Ohio. He was born on January 18, 1944, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, and was baptized at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie. He did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Norwood, and received a M.Ed. in Math from Xavier University, Cincinnati. He was ordained on May 23, 1970, at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati by Most Reverend Paul F. Leibold.
Father Seger received his first assignment on June 9, 1970, as assistant at St. Thomas More Parish, Withamsville (Cincinnati), and to teach at McNicholas High School, Cincinnati. On June 17, 1971, he was appointed assistant at Corpus Christi Parish, Dayton. On June 20, 1975, he was appointed Associate at Holy Trinity Parish, Coldwater, and appointed Administrator of Holy Trinity on June 15, 1976. On May 1, 1981, he was appointed to be in residence and Administrator at St. Patrick Parish, Glynnwood. On July 1, 1983, he was appointed pastor of St. Denis Parish, Versailles. On February 15, 1995, he was appointed temporary administrator of Holy Family Parish, Frenchtown. From July 18 through September 18, 1995, he was appointed temporary administrator of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, South Charlestown and St. Augustine Parish, Jamestown, as well as being appointed temporary administrator of Holy Redeemer Parish, New Bremen, from September 20 through December 15, 1995. On February 1, 1996, he was appointed temporary administrator of St. Andrew Parish, Milford. On July 1, 1998, Father Seger was appointed pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Glynnwood, and St. John Parish, Fryburg. He was re-appointed as pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Glynnwood, and St. John Parish, Fryburg, in 2004 and then again in 2010. During his years of ministry, he also was appointed as chaplain at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, chaplain of Our Lady of Lourdes Circle No. 407, of the Daughters of Isabella, Versailles, as well as State Father Prior of the Ohio Columbian Squires. Father Seger retired from active ministry on December 13, 2013.

Associates of the Marian Pact are asked to offer, as soon as possible, one Mass for the repose of the soul of Father Seger, and when convenient, to provide for the celebration of two other Masses.
