Reverend David Lee Zink

Reverend David Lee Zink passed away on September 2, 2026, in Carthagena, Ohio. He was born on April 24, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, and was baptized at Church of the Resurrection, Dayton. He received a B.A. from the University of Dayton, a M.A. from Providence College, Rhode Island, and a STB and M. Div. from Dominican Studium/Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. He was ordained on June 6, 1990, at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, Cincinnati, by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk.

Father Zink received his first assignment on June 26, 1990, as associate pastor of St. Helen, Dayton.  He was appointed temporary administrator of St. Helen, effective March 6, 1992.  Father Zink was appointed parochial vicar of Holy Angels, Sidney, effective August 24, 1993.  He was appointed pastor of St. Mary, Urbana, and Sacred Heart, New Paris, effective July 1, 1997.  On July 2, 2001, he was appointed pastor of St. Nicholas, Osgood, and St. Louis, North Star, where he remained as pastor until his retirement from active ministry on September 1, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church (15 East Star Road, Rossburg, OH 45362). Celebrant: Most Reverend Robert G. Casey. Homilist: Reverend John Tonkin.

Committal: Thursday, September 10, 2026, immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church Cemetery. Celebrant: Most Reverend Robert G. Casey.

Associates of the Marian Pact are asked to offer, as soon as possible, one Mass for the repose of the soul of Father Zink, and when convenient, to provide for the celebration of two other Masses.

May God welcome Father Zink, His servant and priest, into the glory of heaven. May he rest in peace.
